National Curriculum Support for Schools

Are you a primary school needing help with school swimming?

All schools in the UK have a responsibility to ensure that every pupil meets the National Curriculum standards.

At Water Safety Matters, we support schools in this endeavour by providing 1-day or 2-day workshops for teachers, support teachers, and staff members who attend our pool-based sessions.

Teacher of School Swimming Course

This is a great way to learn more about how you can help and teach small groups and includes the following topics:

  • Understanding the technical aspects related to the four swimming strokes
  • Identifying faults and causes within the four swimming strokes
  • Introducing progressive practices to bring about an improvement in ability
  • Reviewing the effectiveness of your planning and delivery

Currently in the UK, the attainment rate for swimming and water safety provision is 72%, with a target of 86% by 2033. Water Safety Matters will work with you to achieve the best results for your school.

We prioritise working with primary schools to help you achieve the National Curriculum standards for water safety education.

Our aim is not to replace experienced Level 2 swimming teachers, but to enhance every pupils valuable 30-minute teaching lesson by providing staff with the confidence and expertise to deliver swimming lessons to small groups.

This small investment in your school will pay dividends when you see its attainment levels rise. Your children will be on their way in their competency journey. Most importantly, they will be safe when in, on or around water.

Why Water Safety Matters?

Swim England and Water Safety Matters believe that all children should have the opportunity to learn how to swim and be taught how to stay safe in and around water.

It is so important to ensure that every primary school is supported to provide the best possible swimming and water safety provision for their pupils and this is where Water Safety Matters can help.

Water Safety Matters is a highly experienced, Swim England approved, training company whose aim is to really make a difference by supporting schools, staff and children to not only achieve the National Curriculum outcomes, but to smash them.
